Esau Wines
A Simple Philosophy ...
... and a conviction that blends are more satisfying than single cultivar wines, potentially more complex, and undoubtedly more interesting has led to the establishment of Esau Wines.
Building on a tradition of small volume winemakers that have passed through Mason's Cellar in Main Street, Paarl, Esau aims to be a 'micro-winery': small enough to be flexible, innovative and personal, but also large enough to be sustainable.
We make three flagship blends: two Rhone-style blends (Chateau Esau and Moerwetter), and a Cape Blend (Holy Cow).
From time to time, we bottle exceptional cultivar wines under our 'Private Collection' label, and, depending on quality, a Shiraz-Cabernet blend ('Non Pareille').
And finally, there is the blend of last resort ('Rampokker') - not because the wine is any poorer, but because we didn't use it in any of the others ...

New in 2015: We have bought in Tempranillo grapes for the first time - look out for our Rioja-style blend by Christmas 2017!
